William Conant Psychotherapy and Counselling for Individuals and Couples in Balham, London, SW12

I offer both short term solution focussed and longer term therapy as best suited to the individual client. The suitability of either approach is dependent on both the nature of the presenting issue(s) and desires of the client. My integrative training and extensive experience has allowed me to work with a wide range of issues including:
Depression
Anxiety disorders
Bereavement
Stress
Self harm
Low self esteem
Addiction Counselling
Alcohol Issues
Relationship issues
Anger Management
Trauma
Sexual problems
Depression
I am very much aware that with the wide variety of therapeutic models and differing styles of therapists choosing the right person can be difficult. Often a telephone conversation can give you and the therapist a better idea as to if we are suited to working together. It is my experience that the relationship between the client and therapist is a key factor in the successful outcome of therapy.

In order to enhance this relationship I work in a non-judgemental, grounded manner in order to facilitate the creation of a safe space in which to explore difficult emotions and feelings. My Integrative training has given me the theoretical knowledge to work with psychodynamic, humanistic and existential principals, tailoring this to best suit the needs of each client. How I work is dependant on the individual client and the nature of the work. An example may be that in my work as an addiction counsellor I may take a more cognitive behaviour process dealing with the here and now whilst taking a more humanistic/psychoanalytic approach to the underlying trauma that underlies most addictions.
